Nicole Kidman
Nicole Kidman Biography:
One of Australia's most honored actresses, vibrant, statuesque redhead Nicole Kidman was actually born in Honolulu, Hawaii, on June 20, 1967. After a short stint in Washington, D.C., the family moved to her parents' native Sydney when Nicole was 3 years old.
A ballet enthusiast during her teenage years, Kidman eventually dropped out of high school at 16 to pursue an acting career full-time. She made her U.S. film debut in the thriller Dead Calm (1986). Her next film, Days of Thunder (opposite Tom Cruise), was even more portentous. She married her co-star in 1990; the couple divorced in 2001.
A long string of successful movies culminated for Kidman in 2003 when she won the Best Actress Oscar for her portrayal of tortured writer Virginia Woolf in The Hours. Key movies include Cold Mountain (2003), The Others (2001), Moulin Rouge! (2001), Eyes Wide Shut (1999) and To Die For (1995).
