Julianne Moore
Julianne Moore Biography:
Julianne Moore was born December 3, 1960, in Fayetteville, N.C. After a few TV roles (including the soap opera "As the World Turns") in the 1980s, her first foray into film was 1990's Tales from the Darkside: The Movie, followed by a string of films that could hardly be described as Oscar material.
In 1993, she finally caught the eye of critics and filmmakers in Robert Altman's Short Cuts. Her chameleon-like ability to find the heart in all sorts of roles was proven in movies as disparate as Vanya on 42nd Street (1994) and The Myth of Fingerprints (1997), directed by her now-husband, Bart Freundlich.
But it's her turn as a maternal porn star in Paul Thomas Anderson's Boogie Nights (1997) that garnered Moore her first spate of acting nominations at both the Golden Globes and the Academy Awards. In 2002, she was nominated for two Oscars for her work in Far from Heaven and The Hours.
