Actor Spotlight - Drew Barrymore

Drew Barrymore

Drew Barrymore Biography:

Drew Barrymore was born February 22, 1975, in Culver City, Calif., to an American acting dynasty that stretches back to the 19th century. Her grandfather was John Barrymore, matinee idol of silents and early talkies; her father, John Barrymore Jr., was a young star in the 1950s.

Drew made her film debut at age 5 in Altered States (1980); two years later, the world loved her as Elliott's baby sister in E.T. After several child-star roles, Drew's personal woes took her off-screen for a while; she co-wrote a book, Little Girl Lost, about this period.

She reemerged as a rising starlet in the 1990s with such films as Boys on the Side, Batman Forever, Scream, Ever After, The Wedding Singer and Never Been Kissed. With Charlie's Angels (2001), Drew made a successful transition to action star and had a 2004 hit opposite Adam Sandler (her Wedding Singer co-star) in 50 First Dates.
